"My 5-year old son had wished that Santa would gift him a violin and the opportunity to learn. We were instead gifted with Teacher Zoe, who was able to take all of my son’s bubbling energy and channel it into engaging and fun violin lessons that he so looks forward to weekly! Zoe never ceases to amaze us with how she can quickly tailor the lesson on the fly to accommodate a student’s pace, level, or mood by adjusting the content and teaching method. The rapport Zoe has established with my son in the last 10+ months has really enabled him to appreciate music in multiple ways; teacher Zoe cleverly builds into her dynamic lessons fundamentals like music theory, physical posture, etc on top of learning new pieces. This has really inspired my son to continue his musical journey. He insists he wants to teacher Zoe’s classes even though he finds practicing at home to be a chore.
We also appreciate that Zoe has been flexible throughout the pandemic and thereafter, making time to accommodate both remote or in person lessons. "

Zoe Chau is an amazing viola teacher for my son. My son was uncertain about whether he was interested or not in learning to play an instrument, and after just one lesson with her, he was motivated and enthusiastic. He has been taking lessons with Zoe for about a year now, and he remains motivated to practice and goes to classes happily and often reports, “That was the best class ever!” when asked how it went. We can hear the improvement in his playing from week to week, and the pace at which he progresses is beyond our expectations. On top of her excellent skills as a teacher, Zoe is very caring and goes above and beyond to be flexible and accommodate special requests whenever possible, such as helping our son when he has trouble with the school orchestra pieces, or switching to Zoom when COVID-19 is an issue. You can tell she deeply cares about the progress of her students and puts them first and foremost. I highly recommend Zoe and am so grateful that my son has her as his teacher!
